Traumatic Epidermal Skin Slough Repair

Patient History

An 89 year-old female presented to the Emergency Department with a traumatic epidermal skin slough.

Treatment

The patient was taken to the operating room where the soft-tissue defect was debrided and nonviable tissue was removed. Restrata Meshed was then placed in the wound bed to provide reinforcement of the repair and fixated with simple sutures. Finally, the remaining viable epidermal tissue was placed over the Restrata Meshed and fixated via staples to achieve primary closure.

Conclusion

Three weeks after the procedure, the defect had healed successfully with no complications.
