Our Leadership

Mike joined Acera Surgical as CEO in 2022. Prior to joining Acera, Mike spent 14 years at Orthofix, where he served in roles of increasing responsibility including seven years as Chief Strategy Officer. Among his accomplishments at Orthofix, Mike created and led a biologics business that quickly reached $100 million in annual retail revenue. Before his tenure at Orthofix, Mike spent more than 16 years in a variety of commercial roles at Boston Scientific, including Vice President of Corporate Sales and Vice President of National Accounts. He holds a degree in Economics from Wake Forest University.  

Matthew is the co-inventor of Acera Surgical’s technology platform and co-founder of the company. He is responsible for managing Acera’s IP and patent portfolio, new product research, and the design and implementation of clinical studies. Matthew graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University with a specialization in polymer biomaterials / biomaterial biocompatibility.  He then went on attend the Medical Scientist Training Program at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO where he received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering.

Since 2011, Matthew has received numerous awards including Innovator of the Year by the St. Louis Bar Association in 2015. He currently serves on the board at the St. Louis Zoo and as the Chair of the Conservation Council for the St. Louis Zoo Association. 

Julie joined Acera Surgical in 2013. With over 25 years of leadership experience, Julie serves as Acera’s Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, responsible for finance, accounting and budgeting, compliance, legal and contract administration, and human resources.  Prior to joining Acera, Julie held multiple roles at Express Scripts including Vice President of Strategic Planning and Vice President of Product Management. Before Express Scripts, Julie was a consultant in McKinsey & Company’s San Francisco office, serving clients in various healthcare verticals. Julie holds an MBA from Stanford University and graduated summa cum laude with a BSE in both Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Duke University.

Joining Acera Surgical in 2012, Tamás is responsible for leading product development, manufacturing and supply-chain, sales operations, quality management and regulatory. During his tenure, he spearheaded the design, development, and manufacturing transfer of Acera’s device portfolio, including the FDA submissions associated with Cerafix^® and the Restrata^® product family. Prior to joining Acera, Tamás was part of the International Operations team at Express Scripts. He holds a BS in Operations Research and Information Systems Engineering and an MEng degree from Cornell University, as well as an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Cory joined Acera Surgical in 2022. With 20 years of sales leadership experience, Cory brings with him a record of success in building and scaling sales organizations to enable fast and consistent growth. Prior to joining Acera, he was instrumental in building and leading the Orthofix commercial team that grew a new class of medical technology, a novel bone biologic, from product introduction to over $100 million in annual sales in a short period of time. Cory’s knowledge, his commitment to building and leading a sales team, and his vast array of distributor relationships plays an instrumental role in accelerating the adoption of Restrata^® in the operating room. Cory graduated from McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. 

Jack has been leading Acera’s contracting, national account, and pricing responsibilities since joining the team in 2019. Jack is a graduate of the University of Delaware and has over 25 years’ experience in pricing, contracting and account management with some of the largest and most successful organizations in corporate America. Prior to joining the Acera team, Jack held numerous leadership positions at MiMedx, Shire, and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. Additionally, Jack has held several government positions and honorably served for five years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. 

Jon joined the Acera Surgical team in August 2023. He comes to Acera with 20 years of experience and an accomplished track record in medical devices, having worked in a variety of sales and marketing leadership roles with Tornier, Ascension Orthopedics, Solana Surgical, Wright Medical, In2Bones and most recently, Conmed. Jon has excelled in establishing and scaling the commercial and marketing competencies of small, fast growing, technology-focused medical device companies.  Jon holds an MBA from Webster University and a BA in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA.
