Dr. Matthew MacEwan, PhD
Matthew is the co-inventor of Acera Surgical’s technology platform and co-founder of the company. He is responsible for managing Acera’s IP and patent portfolio, new product research, and the design and implementation of clinical studies. Matthew graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University with a specialization in polymer biomaterials / biomaterial biocompatibility. He then went on attend the Medical Scientist Training Program at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO where he received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering.
Since 2011, Matthew has received numerous awards including Innovator of the Year by the St. Louis Bar Association in 2015. He currently serves on the board at the St. Louis Zoo and as the Chair of the Conservation Council for the St. Louis Zoo Association.
