Patient History

A 65-year-old female presented with a non-healing wound in the left axilla resulting from hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a chronic inflammatory skin condition. After prior treatment attempts of other commercially available products, the wound remained open for several months, raising concern over contamination risk. Restrata was chosen to facilitate soft tissue repair due to its ability to perform in hostile wound environments.^1,2

Treatment

Following surgical debridement of HS, Restrata MiniMatrix was sparingly applied and covered with a non-adherent outer dressing followed by negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).

Conclusion

A single application of Restrata MiniMatrix facilitated rapid and robust tissue formation³ over the non-healing wound. Significant wound reduction was achieved, with final closure via secondary intention.

Restrata has not been studied in wounds that extend into the tendon, muscle, joint capsule, or bone. Restrata should not be applied until excessive exudate, bleeding, acute swelling, and infection is controlled.
