For clinicians with patients requiring soft-tissue repair, Restrata is a non-biologic, electrospun fiber matrix engineered to be similar to human ECM that activates granulation tissue in refractory wounds while maintaining tensile strength with flexibility.

What is Soft Tissue Reinforcement?

Restrata Soft Tissue Reinforcement is an indication for implantation to reinforce soft tissue where weakness exists, in patients requiring soft tissue repair and/or reinforcement in plastics or reconstructive surgery.

Product Benefits

  • Offers mechanical support for closures that may be at risk of wound breakdown or dehiscence
  • Designed to mitigate wound breakdown or dehiscence, potentially reducing complications in high-risk patients and threatened closures14, 15, 20, 21
  • Tensile strength similar to human skin and maintains some strength for 7-10 days after implantation, reinforcing subcutaneous closure during the 5-10 day window where the risk of dehiscence is the greatest2, 22-24, 28, 31

Incidence and impact of surgical site complications on length of stay and cost of care for patients undergoing open procedures

  • "Surgical site complications (SSCs) such as dehiscence, postoperative seroma, skin complications and no

Study Highlights and Takeaways

  • Non-infectious SSC rates were ≈5% in this retrospective analysis of Medicare and Premier data.
  • Total incremental LOS per non-infectious SSC was 6.5 days in Medicare Patients
  • Total incremental LOS per non-infectious SSC was 5.2 days for Premier patients
  • Surgical site complications, particularly non-infectious SSCs, are not uncommon in open procedures and result in increased LOS and costs.
