Fibula Free Flap Donor Site Dehiscence

Patient History

A 32-year-old female presented with a six-month-old gunshot wound to the face. A fibular free flap was harvested to address the facial wound. A month after the initial fibular free flap harvest, the donor site wound began to dehisce.

Treatment

Wet-to-dry dressings were applied, followed by drainage and removal of non-viable tissue. Restrata® MiniMatrix™ was applied to the wound bed followed by a non-adherent to ensure uniform pressure on the wound bed. A full-thickness skin graft (FTSG) was applied three weeks after the application of MiniMatrix.

Conclusion

By Week 6, the wound had healed completely.

Restrata has not been studied in wounds that extend into the tendon, muscle, joint capsule, or bone. Restrata should not be applied until excessive exudate, bleeding, acute swelling, and infection is controlled. Please refer to the Instructions for Use for a full list of indications, contraindications, precautions, and warnings.
