Patient is a 39-year-old male with contaminated full-thickness wound to lower left leg from a gunshot. Incision and drainage (I&D) with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) was done multiple times to the wound. prior to Restrata application. Patient is a daily smoker. Intramedullary nailing of the left tibia fracture. Underwent antibiotic therapy via a PICC line to control infection prior to Restrata application.
Restrata Sheets applied to the wound, secured, covered with non-adherent dressing followed with NPWT at Week 0, Week 4, and Week 9. At Week 12, the wound was adequately granulated and a STSG was applied.
After 3 applications, Restrata helped to provide a better-granulated tissue base for a STSG in this complex wound. The patient showed successful graft take with excellent skin pigmentation.
